Outsourcing An Example Of Hrm Essay - 1305 Words

There are various concepts relevant to HRM that I have learnt this term. These terms include outsourcing, disparate act, disparate treatment, Equal Pay Act, ADA, Wagner Act, SWOT analysis, HIPAA, EEO, EEOC, COBRA, WARN and BARS. These concepts are significant in practice and in HRM by serving different purposes in employment and employee-employer relations. Outsourcing refers to an arrangement in which an employer or firm seeks the services of another firm to provide a service or product that may perhaps be provided by the employer (Dessler, 2013, p. 169). Outsourcing is relevant in HRM practice when an employer or company has not been successful in hiring qualified applicants. In addition, HRM personnel can consider outsourcing when there is an urgent need to fill a particular job opening. In practice, outsourcing can be used to refer to a situation whereby an employer seeks the services of employment agencies to find potential employees to fill in various job positions. Disparate act refers to a neutral employment practice whereby a disparity is created between the number of minority individuals available for hire and the number of minorities hired. In HRM, disparate act is a concern for employers or companies that single out specific groups during recruitment and hiring of employees (Dessler, 2013, p. 178). This makes it unlawful and the employer is liable for disparate act. In practice, disparate act is a concern if an employer hires a predominantly Caucasian workforceShow MoreRelated Outsourcing Essay1534 Words   |  7 PagesOutsourcing Thesis: How outsourcing jobs has affected IBM’s Human Resource Management Department I.
